Afghan Highlights:

Out of this little mechanics shop in eastern Afghanistan comes the first DMI (Damage Management Inc.) chopper. The former Caspian motorcycle was a forgotten, broken down relic before Staff Sgt. John A. Post Sr. and Spec. Roger B. Ryman, both Infantrymen working as mechanics for the 3rd Battalion 116th Infantry Regiment at Forward Operating Base Ghazni, found it. After over 80 man-hours of work, the two men transformed the motorbike into what may be Afghanistan's first American Chopper.
"It had a more than a few mechanical problems with it when we got it," said Post, a 16 year veteran of the Virginia Army National Guard. "We got permission to go ahead and do what we could do with it. Once we got it running we kinda kept going from there."
Two weeks and 80 hours later the night was split apart as the little 125 horsepower roared back into life.
" It’s a real comfortable ride, more so than you would think from looking at it," said Ryman.
When you ride it a few times, you learn to lean forward when you want to shift gears to keep the front wheel on the ground."
The two plan on continuing the new friendship once they return to the states and there are plans to continue DMI as a custom design shop.
